Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Mei (the Mei Chrome extension, the Mei mobile app, and the service at meimm.ai) collects, why, and how long it is kept. Mei is operated by an independent developer. Questions: privacy@meimm.ai.
The short version
- Mei only looks at a page when you ask it to: by clicking Analyze in the extension, or by sharing or pasting a link in the app. It does not watch your browsing.
- To analyze a page, Mei sends that page's text and address to its server, which uses an AI provider to produce the result.
- Mei keeps a record of each analysis (the page address, an anonymous install ID, and usage statistics) for up to 90 days to run the service, manage its free daily limit, and understand costs.
- Mei has no accounts and does not collect your name, email, or contacts. It does not sell data, show ads, or build profiles of you.
Information Mei collects
When you analyze a page

The install ID is not linked to your name, email, Google account, device identifier, or advertising ID. Mei's own records do not store your IP address. The hosting providers listed below may keep standard technical logs, including IP addresses, under their own policies.
If you use your own Anthropic API key (extension)
When the free daily limit is reached, the extension lets you enter your own Anthropic API key. The key is stored only on your device and is sent only to Anthropic, directly from your browser. It is never sent to Mei's server. After an analysis made with your key, the extension tells Mei's server that the analysis was completed, along with the amount of AI processing used and the result counts. It does not send the key or the page text in that report.
If you send feedback
Feedback is optional and only sent when you choose to: rating a paragraph, rating a report, or filling in the feedback survey. Mei stores what you send (your rating, the label you suggest, and any comment you type) with the anonymous install ID, for up to 90 days, to improve Mei's analysis. So that feedback can be checked, it also includes the page address and Mei's full result for that article: each passage's text, label, and explanation, the "how it's told" analysis, and the related coverage shown. A paragraph rating also notes which paragraph was rated, and the survey shows which article its report comes from. One copy of the result is kept per analysis and shared by all feedback about it. Please don't include personal information in comments.
Stored only on your device
Your settings, your most recent results, the install ID, and (in the app) your library of checked articles are stored locally on your device. Uninstalling the extension or app removes them.
Service providers
Mei uses these providers to operate. Each receives only what it needs for its role:

What Mei does not do
- Mei does not sell or rent information, or share it for advertising.
- Mei does not read pages you haven't asked it to analyze.
- Mei does not use information to determine creditworthiness or for lending, or for any purpose unrelated to providing and improving Mei.
- Mei does not allow people to read your data, except as needed for security, to comply with law, or with your permission.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received through the Mei Chrome extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Your choices
- You decide which pages Mei sees: it only analyzes a page when you ask it to.
- Uninstalling the extension or app deletes everything stored on your device.
- Because records are anonymous, Mei can't look them up by name. To ask for records to be deleted, email privacy@meimm.ai with the approximate date and the page(s) you analyzed, and they will be removed.
Children
Mei is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date. Significant changes will also be noted in the extension or app.
